a happy, hairless homecoming

In honor of Nicholas's patron saint,  Michael decided to grow an "intercessory beard", by not shaving until or baby boy came home.

On the morning of Wednesday, January 8th, Michael shaved.
We were on our way to pick up our precious son from the hospital.

I was ridiculously nervous on the drive to the hospital.  What if he had taken a step backwards overnight and they needed to continue monitoring him?

We arrived at the NICU and Nicholas was doing better than ever.
All of the discharge paperwork was ready for us.
Our sweet boy would be leaving the hospital and going outside for the first time.

We were finally bringing him home!

His big brothers were happy to greet him, but mostly happy that Mommy would be home again with them.  Shuffling back and forth from the hospital had cut into much of our time together, and we were all ready to have it back.

The boys baked Nicholas a birthday/welcome home cake.
We sang Happy Birthday to their baby brother.

 Welcome home baby Nicholas!
We love you and missed you.
